Pray for Memo

There is a family on one of the message boards that I like to read that has been trying to adopt a little boy for 2 years. They asked people to send their letter to people with influence. I am not "connected" so I just thought I would put their letter up here so everyone could be praying for Memo. If we get enough people praying for Memo, we will for sure be connected to the one that has the ultimate influence...

Dear Friends,

I am coming to you for my friends Mark and Suzanne Lockhart. This is a heartwarming, yet heartwrenching story of a family that refused to give up on love. I kindly ask for a moment of your time to read about this journey of hope and determination. My friend’s name is Suzanne Lockhart and she is an adoptive mother. She has two adopted sons from Guatemala. Tony is almost 13 years old and Brandon is 11.

On a vacation to Guatemala in 2004 they met a little boy named Memo. He was just about to turn 7 years old. If you look at his picture you can see how he melted her heart. They have been trying to adopt Memo for almost two years now. They have jumped through every hoop there is to jump and some multiple times. They have had to wait for the family court judge to decide that he needs more information from the original judge who issued Memo’s abandonment decree. Then the case was sent to the superior tribunal judge who ruled that there was nothing wrong with the abandonment decree and Memo should be adopted and sent home as soon as possible. They were then sent back to the familycourt judge who sent them to PGN and PGN sent them back to the Minors Section for further investigation. The Minors section sent the case back to the PGN director's office only to be sent back to the Minors section for more investigating.

So it has been back and forth with no resolution for the Lockhart family or Memo.

They are at their wits’ end and don’t know where to turn. I know that you have in
one way or another been touched by adoption. If you can’t relate to her feelings
as a mother, than maybe you can relate to Memo’s feelings as an orphan who only
wants a family to call his own. This family’s story is incredible. From the way they met this little boy to their incredible journey and determination. There are thousands of people following their story and praying for them. You could always know that you played a vital role in making a family complete. I hope you have some connections that you might be able to ask a favor of. You’re probably asking who are these people? Why would I help them? Suzanne is a paramedic/firefighter and Mark is a deputy fire chief. Their whole world revolves around their sons. They selflessly give of themselves
every day, helping to save others, yet have struggled for over two years to
save their own son. They will move heaven and earth to bring this little boy home.
They have made multiple trips to Guatemala to assure Memo that they have not
forgotten or given up on him. They have spent thousands of dollars getting INS
approved twice because their approval expired after eighteen months. This includes a second home study and all the documents that go with it including FBI clearance. Memo is bright, funny, sweet and lovable. He has missed two entire school years here. It is imperative that we get him home now so that he may go to school and begin catching up to the other children his own age. Just as you and I, Memo deserves to have a chance at life and have a family to call his own. We are his only hope. Please help us.
